The Academic Achievement System

We monitor our students’ performance from the moment they begin classes until they graduate. This is a proactive step to help you be successful. If you receive an alert from the Academic Achievement System, know that we are making proactive strides to ensure your success.

Here are some frequently asked questions about the Academic Achievement System:

1. Does an alert from the AAS reflect poorly on my residency application? No, participation in the AAS is confidential. The only people outside of our office who have access to the AAS alert records would be the Promotions Committee or the Deans Council if the information is needed to make a decision.

2. Is the AAS helpful?  Yes!  After the beginning of the AAS, our course failure rate dropped significantly.  AND We’ve  seen a steady rise in our Step 1 mean scores since implementing the Testing Wisely program. The purpose of these meetings are simply to check in on you and your academic performance and to also pinpoint how we can best help you succeed. So, please do not stress. Because you are our student, we care about you and want to make sure you have everything you need to be the best you can be. Remember, this is not only for you, but also for your future patients.
